One day while strolling on a beach
I came across life
Merry and carefree
Full of joy and glee
Life surprised me
With its lightness and enchanting beauty
Hey life! I said
In my years of existence
I have experienced you differently
Sometimes you felt tough
Sad and unworthy
Full of misery
Rough, heavy and hardly painfree
And here as I speak
Millions are in pain
Suffering and tormented
Diseased and abused
Humiliated and killed
In spirit and in reality
What right
Do you have then
To be like this?
Do you have no sympathy
Or are you just
Out of touch with reality?
Life turned around
Looked me in the eye
And sighed loudly
Son!
I am what you make out of me
When you met me
You were happy and free
Seeing you like this
I also rejoiced
But then you suddenly
Awoke from your reverie
And became unusually angry
Am I to blame
For this sudden change?
Yes I am aware
Of the pains and tribulations
Humans go through
From moment to moment
As you all go about
Trapped in what you call "life"
Have I not shed silent tears
At these moments too?
Am I not troubled
When you are unhappy and cry too?
But do you not see
You and I are inseperable?
I am you and you are me
In happiness
You will find me around you
Filling you with joy and vitality
In times of sadness
You go deep inside
And the world around you
Feels dark and heavy
But then always
I try to come to you
Through someone
Who tries to cheer you
Soothe and comfort you
Sometimes I am the mother
Who loves and nourishes
Or a father
Who protects and encourages
Or a teacher
Who guides and re-affirms
Or a partner
Who cherishes and loves
In various forms
I always surround you
Open your eyes
To my various forms
And understand this point
I am but your creation
As you are mine
Through you I live
Grow and learn
For me you are precious
Unique and lovely
So take this simple message
And share with all
Whether suffering or free
If you do this
I shall be obliged
And owe you a debt of gratitude
For eternity!
Go my friend!
And do me this favour
In return I promise
My friendship
My love and my support
I bow my head to you
In reverence and gratitude!
Please work for me
And I shall set you free!
